WINning again Californian style

We left Las Vegas early Sunday morning May 27th to join up with the WINs group gathering at Twentynine Palms, CA. We drove thru Mojave Desert National Monument. The scenery was beautiful as we passed an area with the largest concentration of Joshua trees in the world. We stopped at Kelso and toured the visitor center/old train depot museum. At the Elk's Lodge we were greeted with warm hugs and cool cocktails. Hooked up to electricity as the temperatures was in the 90's all week.

Tuesday we moved to the Elk's Lodge 20 miles down the road to Yucca Valley where we met Bob's driving instructor and he had 8 hours of lessons.

Wednesday we headed to San Bernadino Eagles Aarie where hosted the 2nd event of the summer caravan. We had to have the MH to the repair shop at 9 am on Thursday to get the switch replaced that had broken in Las Vegas.

The group started gathering and by Sunday we had 17 rigs here with 19 Wins. Bob and I had scouted out Big Bear Lake and drove the Gold Fever Trail on Saturday then we allwent up on Monday.





We repeated the drive up to Big Bear Lake on Tuesday and this time we took a pirate boat ride on the lake for 90 minutes. The head pirate told us about the history of the lake and


showed us many homes belonging to famous people.

Wednesday we toured the McDonald's/Rt 66 museum at the site of the original McDonald's.




After that we toured Prospect Park in Redlands.

Friday we had to take the MH in for the final part to be put one. Now we are not losing precious water out the drain. 4 men and 5 women were inducted into the Eagles Lodge. We had a steak dinner and dancing to Karaoke in the evening. The next morning everyone left to go to the next place at Mojave leaving Bob and I.

Our balloon pilot, Denni, treated us to a day at Disneyland, California Adventure and the exclusive Club 33. It was our 18 month anniversary celebration and the waiter went all out and treated us to special Mickey and Minnie mousse.

We spent one evening with the group above Mojave before heading to Visilia to the Elk's Lodge.







We toured Sequoia and King's Canyon National Parks. We are a spread out group this time. Some here, were we can have air conditioning with the 90+ heat, others at a lakeside Corp of Engineer's campground and still more dry camping at a motel/rv park at Three Rivers. We all rented a pontoon boat and had a ball on Kweah Lake.

King's Canyon had pretty waterfalls and was 102 in the valley. Thanks to AC we were comfortable. We toured the town of Exeter to see their murals, have lunch and went to the movies. We saw "Waitress" and the lead made pies, all kinds, so when we got out we decided to head for Marie Callender's and get what else? PIE...
