Minnesota

Friday morning I finished the research portion of our itinerary (where to stay cheaply) while Bob waterless washed the car and visited with Steve. Around noon we hitched up. Started west on 64 and came to the St. Croix River ready to cross into MN. The lift bridge was broken and the guy who fixes it was on vacation. We had a bite of lunch while waiting and after about an hour we unhitched, backed the motorhome off the bridge approach in order to turn the rig around. Dropped down to I90 and drove straight thru the twin cities. On the north east side of down we stopped at Baker Park Reserve. Steve and family arrived for a 50th birthday party for a friend of theirs. They invited us to join them here for the night and some music by a band called Trailer Trash.
Since a cousin of mine calls me that, thought it would be appropriate. We had a great time at the party. Happy Birthday Gail.

Saturday morning we went on a 7 mile bike ride with them around the park. We then left and headed to Pipestone, MN. Found a rest area to park in overnight. The next morning was very foggy so we had a leisurely morning then headed to the nearby Pipestone National Monument. For centuries the Indians come here to quarry the stone that is used in their ceremonial pipes.
We watched a video about the park and another one on the quarrying and making of the pipes, walked thru the museum, watch 2 men demonstrating and walked the 3/4 mile trail. When we were done we headed to Yankton, SD and parked at the COE park on Lake Lewis and Clark.
