Colorful Colorado

We moved to the Moose Lodge in Longmont, CO near Denver. It is also close to the Rocky Mountain National Park. We planned it that way so we could take a looooong day trip up there. We have been before so it was really just driving. The only wildlife we saw was squirrels, birds and a marmot. No moose, elk, big horns or mtn goats. If it hadn't been for the scenery and surprise ghosts towns on our drive it would not have been a great day.

Had our picnic lunch at an overlook on Granby Lake
 Met these nice ladies.
Road sign said for "watch for rock in road" lasted about 20 miles. Getting higher and windier.

We stopped in Idaho Springs at the National Forest Infomation station to find out about the Virginia Canyon Rd. Bob met Don and his mother Zorina and we followed them up Oh My God Hill. Saw lots of old mines and deserted mining towns.

We stopped at Central City. A Chili Cook Off was going on. We ate dinner at Millies and when we came out it was raining so we gambled a little.

We continued on 191 back to Longmont thru a beautiful canyon.

Back at the Lodge there were two Mexican parties going on one behind us and one in front of us. It wasn't quiet until well after midnight.

Our neighbor Mike, who has been here 5 weeks and is a new RV'er came over and we chatted for a couple of hours. He wanted to know "how to" rv cheaply. We told him to join the Win's and the Escapees. He also said these parties are held every Saturday night. Glad we will be moving before next Saturday.
