Boondocking Idaho

Saturday, August 25. After a great pancake breakfast that Bob cooked for George and I we left Keeney Pass. Stopped for fuel, dump and water then took back roads up into the Sawtooth Mountains near Stanley. The drive followed rivers most of the way and there were lots of rafters and kayakers. We pulled off for lunch at a rapid and watched a couple shoot the rapid. Our lunch music was the sound of the water. Continuing on we arrived at a free national forest campground where we joined 6 other rigs from the SKP Boondocker BOF (group). We joined the group at Thanksgiving in Berrigo Springs but have never had the opportunity to attend one of their rendezvous. We joined them for social hour shortly after setting up. Peaceful and quiet here.

On Sunday we drove to nearby Stanley Lake and after taking a couples picture they told us about a nice drive across the highway that gave a great view of the mountains. We passed an old miner's cabin. We had to go and after seeing the view we ended up on a "jeep trail". Very narrow, steep and almost too much for our vehicle to handle. We came out near Stanley and after lunch found two hot springs that we soaked in. Met some nice young people and 3 young men from Pittsburg, Pa that had been to our home town of Salem Oh.

Monday the group had an egg in the bag breakfast. Allan Moore joined us on a trip to a gold dredge

and a ghost town.

We then stopped for a two hour soak in the hot springs. Back at the rigs we joined the group for social hour.
