Further South/Englewood

Thursday, We packed up and drove a whopping 60 miles to the Elk's Lodge at Englewood. The view from our windshield is great. It is a hopping lodge. We wanted to attend their Valentine's Dinner Dance and they were sold out. 600 tickets. We had a delicious lunch at the lodge then ran some errands and called friends in the area. Hank and Sherileen who we met at Kerrville, TX dropped by as did Al who invited us to go with him and Bev to the VFW in Venice for karaoke. We had a lovely evening with them.

Friday we kicked back and didn't do anything exciting. We took our daily walk, worked on the computer, made some phone calls, I did some needlework and we sorted our desk drawers. Late afternoon we went to the lodge for a fish dinner and around 8 pm we went to the lounge for a drink and dancing. Back home to watch TV.

Saturday was Donna's Friends Day AGAIN. We went to Venice and saw Judy and Bill. They were neighbors back in the late 60's in Chittenango, NY and have remained so all these years. They took us for a ride around Venice in Bill's new toy a BMW convertible. We went to the Venice jetty and to Sharky's pier. Drove past the Venice airport made famous by where the 9/11 terrorist learned how to fly. Also thru old town Venice. Back at their villa we had a delicious hamburger lunch and visited some more. Then it was onto Cathy and Jim's who were friends of my father at Henderson Harbor, NY where I grew up. He told me of all the changes. Haven't been there since 1999 when he took me out in his boat to put my father's ashes in the bay. In the evening we went to the lodge for the dinner dance. We had great table companions Erv and Rose from MO and the music was great to dance to.

I had to look up Englewood - looks like a great spot for waterfowl viewing. I like Bob's purse in the last picture!
