Charlottesville, VA

Monday we toured Monticello the home of Thomas Jefferson.

His grave.
And then we went to the home of James Monroe.

The white part is the original home.

This tree was here when Monroe was here.

By this time we were a tad hungry so we stopped at historic Michie Tavern for lunch.

Then toured the tavern.

The bar room.

The fire extinguisher.

The ballroom which we danced in.
Bob renting a candle for the night.

You're really moving now! Love the fire extinguisher.

Talk about stepping back in time... Was it a feather tick mattress or a straw pallet?

Hi,
I really enjoyed my visit to Monticello in 2004.
