On our way to Maine

We are heading to Maine. Stopped for an overnight at Elk's Lodge in Massena, NY. We went to the Eisenhower Lock and watch a couple of boats navigate the lock.

Monday we continued eastward in drizzle off and on. We crossed into VT at the top of Lake Champlain.
We decided not to go down Rt2 on Grand Isle as we both had done it before and instead took the faster route of I89 to Montpelier. We found the Elk's Lodge on a beautiful 9 hole golf course they also own. After setting up we headed back 15 miles to the Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream factory for a tour and taste. Back at the lodge we shared a Mexican Chicken Wrap and headed for the motorhome just before the rain we had out run came.

Tuesday morning we toured the State Capitol in Montpelier.
It is a smallest state capitol in the US. It has been restored beautifully. We toured the Vermont Museum next door. It tells of history from prehistoric to now. Back at the motorhome we hitched up and drove across Rt 2 thru New Hampshire and on to Topsham , Maine to the fairgrounds. Our GPS took us the wrong way and we had to unhitch and turn around and enter by a different road. It has full hookups for $15 a night. We just vegged in the evening as we had driven 178 miles each of the last two days. But now we are here until after the 4th.

Yummy! Ben & Jerry's! Vermont is one of only 3 states I haven't been to, so keep the good blogs coming.
