Camp Verde

We are by ourselves for a couple of weeks. There are no friends around but by the time we leave we will have a few new friends. We moved to a Thousand Trails park near Cottonwood. It is at a higher altitude so we will be a tad cooler but we have electricity and can run the big furnace as much as we want. I immediately found the local Curves and worked out. Bob in the meantime attacked his honey-do list.

Washing the motorhome was a 3 day job as we use the waterless system. Spray the stuff on, wipe it and then buff it. It sure is shiny. Laundry was also a high priority. It would be relaxing here if it wasn't for all the work we have to do.

Told you we would met new friends. However, they were old friends we had met in Florida at our very first Thousand Trails park in Wauchula a year ago. Garey & Mary. Mary belongs to Curves also so we went for a workout. The fellows joined us after we were done and we went out for lunch. On our way home we did a little 4 wheeling down to the "Dirty Verde". We also stopped by at the winery just outside the park but they are VERY pricey so we didn't partake. Late afternoon brought a thunderstorm and rain. Didn't we just wash the RV? This evening found us playing P&J with Mary, Garey, Doug and Carlee.

We went geocacheing one day. (Notice the tiny flowers on the desert). There was a little snow up higher. And off in the distance is the mountain by Flagstaff with lots of snow. Click on the picture to see it. The town below is Cottonwood. We found 5 geocashes. Some were in little film cans hanging on bushes or trees. One was in a plastic jar buried under a pile of rocks next to a tree. The cutest one was a bug like object hanging in a tree. The clue said the bug wouldn't bite. We were near Jerome. It is an old copper mining town that has become very hip with restaurants and stores. It is perched high on a mountain side and it is impossible to take good pictures to show. The highway is narrow with switchbacks all thru town. We found a little restaurant and shared a steak & chicken fajita. While out geocasheing we stopped and talked with a local security guard and he told us about Cherry a small town high in the hills south of where we are staying. We took a lovely drive thru the Prescott National Forest going to it. Just a few houses scattered about.
And this cute bear.

While driving thru the park we spotted a name we thought we recognized and sure enough Jim & Judy Ives are here also. We first met them at the Gypsy Journal Rally in Celina, OH last fall. We played P&J every night with them. So this called for a rematch. We met them at the club house and they brought friends Ted and Cathy. We played several games until it was time for the spaghetti dinner, enjoyed that and then Jim & Judy came to our MH and we played several more games.
