From Solitude to Crowded

Saturday morning we were peacefully doing our computering and checked Facebook. Bob's son, Wayne, mentioned he was flying to Las Vegas on Sunday. Having wheels we fueled up, dropped the trailer off at Yuma Lakes for friends to watch and headed up the highway leaving Yuma at 2PM. At 7 pm we pulled into Railroad Pass Casino at Henderson, NV. Got their special rib-eye steak dinner and a humongous strawberry shortcake for $1. Not wishing to stay in their brightly lite parking lot or try to park the motorhome at the Thousand Trails park with REALLY small sites we moved 6 miles down the road to the Elk's Lodge.

There were cars parked outside so we went in to socialize and pay our donation for camping there. We crashed a private party for a group of radio control airplanes enthusiasts. They had an Elvis impersonator entertaining them. He was good. Afterwards we had our picture taken with him "marrying" us. Every time we come to Las Vegas I ask Bob to marry me. He always says NO!. I even teased him that Elvis could do it. When we left Yuma we told our friends we were going to Vegas to get married. So.....here it is...

The Elk's Lodge overlooks the valley that is Las Vegas. The lights sparkle at night like a jeweler's showcase. No picture does it justice. The wind howled so bad all night we had to bring in the slides and still we rocked. It rained also. When we woke in the morning this was the scene out our windshield.
Snow on the mountain tops. Look closely by the telephone pole and you will see a group of 4 or 5 homeless people. They must have had a miserable night there.

Early Sunday morning we moved into the Thousand Trails park and at 2:30 we picked up Wayne at the airport and took him to Bally's to check in for his stay and classes. We then treated him to dinner at our favorite Mexican restaurant at Boulder Station a stones throw from our TT park. Showed him where we were staying and then took him back to the "Strip". He was like a kid in a candy shop looking at all the casino's and lights.
