Strawberry Hill Hot Spring

We are staying at Kamp K-Mart in Craig. CO. We went west of town to find Juniper Hot Springs but it was closed. We geocached along the way. Back in town we loaded up some more caches on the GPS's and hit the road to Steamboat Springs in the car. We checked out Elkhead Reservoir for camping along the way but it is now a CO State Park and they want $28 a night to dry camp. That's probably why the only one there is the camp host.

At Steamboat Springs we went to Strawberry Hill Hot Springs.
To say it is wonderful is an understatement. It's north of town up in the mountains and the fall colors have started. When we were here in '06 we experienced sitting in the springs during a thunderstorm but we had a beautiful sunny day this time. The air temperature was about 60 degrees but the water was very comfortable. Various pools are different temperatures
and the river next to it was warm also. We met some lovely ladies to talk to. They were very interested in our traveling love story.

On the way home we cached some more until it got too dark to see. Back in Craig it a very late dinner (after 8pm) then an early evening as we had been up since 6 am.

That sounds like a great park! I visited the web site http://www.strawberryhotsprings.com and I think this is a place I'd like to visit next year. I really like that it's open after dark. Imagine star gazing on a clear night, relaxing in a hot spring!

Thanks for sharing!

Hi Donna and Bob,

Mary and I are currently in McCook, Nebraska. Today we depart for the Fprt Morgan, Colorado area and expect to pass through Craig and Steamboat Springs in 2-3 days. Where are you headed? Jim and Mary

Jim & Mary we are leaving for Grand Junction and the Win's gathering. Drop down a little and join us but don't miss out on the springs.

That really looks like a lovely spot. It might even be tempting for me and I don't normally like hot springs.

It's Strawberry Park Hot Springs, not Strawberry Hill. You may have been thinking of some 1970s era cheap wine
