Camping with Friends

We moved to Mt. Carmel Jct on on 4/28. It is the east entrance road to Zion National Park. We had great weather for awhile. Our WIN friends started to arrive from Page, Az.

It was a huge area that was a highway gravel/work area. While we were there about 40-50 horse trailers arrived. They were having a week long rally where they would go for trail rides around 50 miles long each day. The winner road 250 miles in the time they were there. A crew came in first and marked the trails and put water containers out in the hills.

We 4 wheeled many days. One we didn't go far was Peek-a-boo Trail. It became very sandy and we were alone. Another time.

The group went to a couple of slot canyons. Bob walked into one a short ways but since Donna couldn't hike because of a sore ankle we went geocaching and took a ride on the Johnson Canyon Rd. It is in the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument. We learned that many movies and tv shows have been filmed in this area. Old sets were out there also. Filming started in the 1920's.

We even saw this fellow on our way home.

We made many trips to Kanab to check on our mail, shop, and tour a little.
One day we met the Win's for lunch.

Another day we had a pot luck and afterwards some of the group walked to this tunnel.

This tunnel is very cool looking, did anyone walk through it? We're thinking of working at the Cedar City KOA, because we've never explored any of that area, plus the nat'l parks being in the area. Love seeing where you are exploring.

Enjoyed your pictures and also talking with you at the ice cream shop (wherever that was I can't remember now). We just arrived home in Michigan this week after 7 weeks on the road. I don't know how you do this all year. I was so tired after we got home and glad to be here safe and sound. -Linda and Rich
